The following sections provide information on installing and upgrading MediaShow.

Updating older QuickTime .MOV videos

Some older QuickTime .MOV files which were not created using the H.264 codec will not work with the latest MediaShow. We will replace any old paid media with new versions, including available subtitle files.

Upgrading MediaShow : WIN

IMPORTANT! If you are attempting to install or update the latest MediaShow and are using ANY version before 5.0, more recent versions place the "buttonsets" and "media" directories in a new location. BEFORE installing the latest MediaShow, you should take extra measures to save your media. We recommend you upgrade by doing the following:

  1. If you are currently using MediaShow 5.0 or later, skip to step #2. If you are using MediaShow 4.9 or earlier, move your "buttonsets" and "media" directories out of your current MediaShow "Program Files" folder ("Program Files (x86)" on 64bit systems)

        C:\Program Files\MediaShow\resources\buttonsets\
        C:\Program Files\MediaShow\resources\media\

and back them up to a safe place elsewhere on your hard drive.
  2. Use the Windows "Add or remove programs" (found under "Settings > Apps & features" on WIN 10) to uninstall your previous version of MediaShow.
  3. Download and install the latest version of MediaShow
  4. If you did step #1, merge the contents of your saved "buttonsets" and "media" directories with the new data directories installed at:

        C:\Users\Public\MediaShow\buttonsets\
        C:\Users\Public\MediaShow\media\
